Yarn T-shirt yarn (weight 6 / super bulky weight), 100 yds (91 m) / 330 g (11.5 oz) – 1 cake.
Crochet Hook 5mm H8, 8mm L11

Waistcoat stitch (ws)
Work as a single crochet but instead of going under two loops you insert hook between the “legs” (“v”) of the next stitch, then work as a regular single crochet.
Turkish Star crochet stitch
Working into a row where there are 2 ws sts in the same stitch skip 1 ws of previous round, insert hook under left-most bar of next 2 wc sts and into the skipped st in the row below (A), yarn over, pull through the loop (B) and finish as a sc (C). Then work a second stitch in the same manner in the same place (D,E)
Note: Basket is worked up starting with crocheting around wooden base and up. If you want the engraved image facing up in finished basket, start round 1 with engraved image facing down.
Basket Crochet Pattern
Round 1: Leave a length of yarn end. With 5mm hook insert the hook through the holes of wooden base and work 1 sl st for each hole around wooden base. Last sl st should be completed with yarn end. With active loop on the hook insert hook through the last hole of wooden base and finish off sl st by pulling yarn end through the hole of wooden base and through the active loop. Insert the hook from top and under the first sl st, pull the yarn end to the mimic the stitch. Insert hook from the wrong side of the board, grab the yarn end and pull it to the wrong side. Weave the remaining yarn end. Insert the hook through the first hole and continue with working yarn.
Round 2: Insert the hook through the holes of wooden base and through sl st of previous round and work 1 sc for each hole around wooden base.
Round 3: Sc in each st through the back loop AND third loop of the st. The row will curl up forming the wall of the basket. The engraved image will be facing up.
Round 4: With 8mm, L11 crochet hook (2 ws in 1 st, skip 1 st) around.
Round 5-16: Turkish star stitch around. See photos of turkish star stitch
