Crocheting is a great way to unwind and create something beautiful, and what better way to put your skills to use than to make your own small crossbody bag? Not only will it be a fun project to undertake, but you’ll also have a practical item that you can use every day. In this blog post, I’m going to share with you a free crochet pattern for a crossbody bag using leather look t-shirt yarn. Plus, I’ll show you how you can purchase a kit that includes all the materials you’ll need to make this project a reality.
What is the best crochet stitch for making a small crossbody bag?
One stitch that can be particularly useful for this type of project is the rattang stitch. This stitch creates a beautiful, textured pattern that resembles woven wicker or rattan. To crochet in the rattang stitch, you will need to use a chunky yarn to achieve the desired thickness.
To start, with active loop on the hook, insert hook under sc of the previous row and draw up a loop (2 loops on the hook). To achieve the full beauty of rattang stitch effect is to draw straight and not twisted thread of yarn. By drawing a loop make sure yarn is not twisted and the folded line is facing inside. Remove the hook from both loops and reinsert it from left to right, draw the right loop through the left loop, ch 1.
Repeat this pattern until you have reached the desired length of your project. The rattang stitch creates a beautiful texture that is perfect for creating small purses or crossbody bags with a unique and stylish look.
