
04 Oct T-shirt Yarn Pumpkin Knitting Pattern
I had so much fun making all the pumpkins that I decided not to limit myself to just crochet ones and designed the sister pattern to crochet pumpkin pattern, the knit version. You can find crochet pumpkin pattern here. So now I have all kinds of pumpkins in my patch, small , big, crochet and knitted.

The knitted pumpkin measures 27” in diameter and 5” height
Skill level: Easy
What you will need:
T-shirt yarn (6 super bulky weight, super chunky yarn/100m(109yards)/330g) -109 yards (100 m). I used t-shirt yarn from my shop KNITZNPURLZ;
Knitting needles – 10mm, US15;
Tapestry needle;
Poly fiber fill;
Hot glue gun;
Stick, raffia, jute for decoration (optional)
Abbreviations, Stitch knowledge:
K- knit;
K2tog – knit 2 stitches together
Ktbl – knit through back loop (Insert your needle from right to left, with the RH needle behind the LH needle, wrap the yarn around the needle and pull the new loop through)
P – purl;
Sl1P – slip stitch purl wise;
w&t – wrap and turn (Keeping the yarn in back, slip the next stitch purl wise from the left needle to the right needle.Bring the yarn forward as if to purl. Slip the stitch from the right needle back to the left needle. Bring the yarn to the back of the work as if to knit. Turn the work);
St(s) – stitch(es);
Yo- yarn over;
() – repeat from ( to ).
Gauge: 2 st=1”and 2 rows=1” in garter st
Note:
Pumpkin is worked up in short rows. Always Sl1p first st, p last st for even edges and easy sewing the edges together.
Let’s get knitting!
Cast on 12 st.
Round 1. Sl1p, k till last st, p1.
Round 2 Sl1p, p till the end of the row.
Round 3. Sl1P, K 1, (yo, k 1) repeat to last st, p last st. (22st)
Round 4. Sl1p, K till the last st, p last st.. Yos from last row ktbl.
Round 5. Sl1P, k 13, w&t leaving remaining st unworked.
Round 6. K 9, w&t leaving remaining st unworked.
Round 7. K 10, w&t leaving remaining st unworked.
Round 8. K 11, w&t leaving remaining st unworked.
Round 9. K 12, w&t leaving remaining st unworked.
Round 10. K 13, w&t leaving remaining st unworked.
Round 11-12. Sl1P, k till to last st, p last st..
Round 13. K 16, w&t leaving remaining st unworked.
Round 14. K 13, w&t leaving remaining st unworked.
Round 15. K 12, w&t leaving remaining st unworked.
Round 16. K 11, w&t leaving remaining st unworked.
Round 17. K till to last st, p last st..
Round 18 Sl1P, ( k2tog) repeat to last st, p last st (12st).
Repeat rows 1-18 5 more times to create 6 bumps of the pumpkin. Cast off, leaving a length of yarn.
Finishing:
Sew cast on and cast off edges. Whip through each st at the bottom with tapestry needles and tighten to close. Stuff the pumpkin with poly fiber fill, pull the tapestry needle through the center to the top and repeat whip stitch and cinch the top. Weave ends and finish off. Hot glue the decorations to the pumpkin.
