It is so hard to get a perfect gift for men, sometimes I want to pull my hair out. Usually my husband buys whatever he wants for himself leaving me stuck not knowing what to get him. For this Valentine’s day I decided to kill 2 birds at once, make him a crochet scarf and well justify the amount of yarn in my stash. He usually asks why I have so much yarn and never make him anything with it. I did consult with him on the design and color choices so I can now truly say that this crochet scarf is approved by a man. After I finished the scarf for my husband my son requested the same scarf for him, because it looked “really cool”. These two words meant the world to me! It’s really rare when older kids really like something that is crochet and actually wear it. Needles to say this crochet scarf was a success!

The design of the scarf was inspired by fabric men’s scarves that I’ve seen in stores. I wanted to replicate that but in crochet. I chose tunisian simple stitch because it is really easy to change colors using this stitch. Also using tunisian simple stitch makes it a simple and mindless project. If you’re new to tunisian crochet, once you get a hand of the stitch the work will just flow. It’s a perfect pattern to work with while watching a movie or even to have it on the go.
As for the yarn you can choose any medium 4 yarn you have in your stash. I went with Loops & Threads® Impeccable™ Yarn but it can be substituted with Lion Brand® Vanna’s Choice® Yarn or Caron® Simply Soft® Yarn

Repeat across the rest of the row, picking up loops from each stitch. See photo 2. Insert hook under BOTH loops of the last stitch on the forward pass and complete as for Tss. See photo 3. once you get to the end of the foundation single crochet row, instead of turning your work, work back across the row from left to right. Return Pass. Yarn over and pull through 1 loop. See photo 4. Yarn over and pull through 2 loops. See photo 5. Repeat yarning over and pulling through 2 loops until you reach the end of the row.
Note: Pattern rows are for Forward Pass instructions only. When you need to switch to a new color, drop the first color to the wrong side. Insert your hook in the next stitch, yarn over with the new color, and draw that yarn through the stitch. Repeat for every color change in forward pass. See photo 6. When working the return pass, when one loop remains of one color, pick up next color to draw through last old color and first new color at the same time. Continue (yo, draw through 2 loops) with new color until 1 loop remains on the hook. See photo 7. Separate yarn in bobbins for each color blocks.
